Why Can I Not Move this Contact?

You cannot move the last contact of if there are any open records that cannot move with the contact. These records include, attachments, literature requests, opportunities, sales orders, tickets, returns, and contracts.

Scenario 1

I am moving the contact because I want to save the contact, but plan to delete the account and all related information.

  1. Open the account and delete all open literature requests, opportunities, sales order, tickets, returns, and contracts.
  2. Move the contact to another account.
  3. Delete the account.

Scenario 2

I am moving the contact to another account, but want to keep the account as a placeholder or to keep associated records as history.

  •  Do one of the following:
    • Create a placeholder contact for the original account. Then move the contact you want to move to another account and reassign all of the open records to the placeholder contact.
    • Create a duplicate of the contact for the new account, move all of the associated records, and create an association between the contacts.
