Adding a New Opportunity

Use the Insert Opportunity view to enter opportunity information and to add, edit, or remove products, competitors, or contacts. You can also update the opportunity currency and rate if you have Multi-Currency enabled.

To add a new opportunity

  1. On the New menu, click Opportunity.
  2. Account - Click the FindClosed button to find the account to be associated with the opportunity.
  3. Enter information in the Opportunity information boxes.
    Based on your Opportunities options, some boxes may already be completed.
    • Description - Enter a name for the opportunity.
      To help track opportunities, use the account name in the opportunity description.
    • Account - Click the FindClosed button to find the account to be associated with the opportunity.
    • Acct. Mgr. - Click the FindClosed button to find the person or team within your organization who manages the account.
    • Reseller - Click the FindClosed button, to select a reseller that is associated with the opportunity.
    • Est. Close - Click the CalendarClosed button, select the date that the opportunity is estimated to close, and then click OK.
    • Sales Process - Select an approved sales process to use for this opportunity.

      The Sales Process box will be unavailable if the Infor CRM Advanced bundle is not installed.

    • Status - Your company defines the opportunity status list. Click the drop-down arrow, and select a status from the list.
    • Type - Click the drop-down arrow, and select a type that describes the opportunity from the list.
    • Lead Source - Click the FindClosed button, to select how the opportunity was generated.
    • Close Prob. - Click the drop-down arrow, and then select the probability that this opportunity will be closed from the list.
  4. Add any products, competitors, or contact.
  5. Click SaveClosed to save the opportunity and close the view, or click Save & NewClosed to save the current opportunity, and then open a new opportunity.

Use the Snapshot on the Opportunity Detail view to add a sales potential.
