Adding a Quote

Use this view to add a quote, including the account, buyer, order location, customer RFQ and other quote information.

To add

  1. Do one of the following:
    • On New menu, click Quote.
    • On the Navigation Bar, right-click Quotes, and then click New Quote.
    • Open the Opportunity Detail view of the opportunity you want to create as a quote, in the Task Pane, under Opportunity Tasks, click Add Quote.
      Any associated products will be automatically added to the new quote.
  2. Complete the quote information:
    • Account - The account associated with the quote. An account is required.
    • Requested By - Click the FindClosed button to find the contact requesting the quote.
    • Start Date - Click the CalendarClosed button to select the start date of the quote. A start date is required.
    • Status - The status of the quote. Click the drop-down arrow and select from the list.
    • Opportunity - Click the FindClosed button to find the opportunity associated with the quote.
    • Account Manager - Click the FindClosed button to find the CRM person or team within your organization that manages the account and this quote.
    • Customer RFQ - Type the customer's request for quote reference number.
    • Expiration Date -To change the date, click the CalendarClosed button to select the date on which the quote will expire.
      If left blank, this may automatically default to a set number of days after the start date once the quote is created. The number of days is determined by your administrator.
    • Currency - Click the FindClosed button to find the currency associated with the quote
    • Exchange Rate - Displays the exchange rate between the base currency of the company and the quote's currency.
    • Comments - Type any additional notes for the quote.
  3. Click SaveClosed.
  4. View the Quote Snapshot. Depending upon your implementation you may be required to promote your changes to the back office application. If you are required to promote quotes, you will see one of the following messages:
    • There are pending changes since the last promotion on <date and time of the last promotion>, pricing information may be incorrect. Please submit changes using the Promote link in the Task Pane.
    • There are no pending changes since the last promotion on <date and time of the last promotion>.
      • No action is required.
    • An error occurred during the last sync cycle.
