Second and third locations

To specify a default Alea ad-hoc report in the second or third location requires you to add one of two keys to the MdsEx.ini file. The only difference between the specification of the second and third locations is the name of the key. For the second location the name is DefaultView. For the third location, the name is View.

  1. Create or select a report to use as the default. The report must have the same name as the cube on which it is based.
  2. In a file explorer, create a folder structure in which to store the default report:
If the database is hosted on 'localhost', specify a folder path in which the final folder has the same name as the database. For example: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Infor\BI\Local Reports\My Default Reports\Best_Practices_Templates_OLAP\

If the database is hosted anywhere other than 'localhost', specify a folder path in which the penultimate and final folders have, respectively, the same names as the host server and the database. For example: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Infor\BI\Local Reports\My Default Reports\Server001\Best_Practices_Templates_OLAP\

  3. Open the MdsEx.ini file.
    For example: ..\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Infor\BI\OLAP
  4. Copy the default report into the final folder of the file structure.

If you want to use the report only as a default report, you can delete it from Office Plus once you have copied it. Or, move it to the folder structure instead of copying it.

  5. Either:
    Option Description
Add this key to the [TRANSFER] section of MdsEx.ini: DefaultView=[path to root folder of the path which contains the copy of the default report]. For example: DefaultView=C:\My Default Reports\
Add this key to the [TRANSFER] section of MdsEx.ini: View=[path to root folder of the folder structure which contains the copy of the default report]. For example: View=C:\My Default Reports\
  6. Save MdsEx.ini
The default Alea ad-hoc report will be available the next time Office Plus starts.
