Prerequisites

Whichever location you choose, specifying a default Alea ad-hoc report requires you to:

  • Create or select a report to use as the default. The report must have the same name as the cube on which it is based.
  • Create a folder structure on the local machine in which to store the default report.

The folder structure depends on the location and name of the database:

Where you create the structure depends on the location in which you specify the default report.

  1. Determine the name of the database which contains the cube.
This might not be the same as the name of the database alias.

Log off from the database alias. Right-click the database alias and select Edit. The database name is displayed in the Database field of the Edit Database Alias dialog.

  2. Determine the name of the server which hosts the database. And, if the database is on the local machine, determine whether its server name is 'localhost' or that of the local machine.
The Server field of the Edit Database Alias dialog displays the server name.
