Report management

Report management enables you to create, open, save, import, export, and delete reports.

You can create these types of report:

Opening reports

To open a report of any of the report types, double-click the report in the Report Catalog. Or, select the report and click Open on the toolbar of the Report Catalog.

The Office Plus group on the ribbon and the Microsoft Excel File tab both have Open and Save options. The behavior of the options depends on the type of report.

To open Office Plus reports which are stored in My Computer or My Documents you must click Open in the Office Plus group in the ribbon and browse to the report to open.

  • The Open button in the Office Plus group always opens the Office Plus Open dialog.
  • The Open option on the Excel File tab always opens the Excel Open dialog.

Saving reports

To save an Office Plus Formula, Ad-hoc or Alea Ad-hoc report, click Save in the Office Plus group on the ribbon, or select File > Save in Excel. You can save Office Plus reports in the Repository or in the file system. In the Options dialog you can specify a folder to add to Favorites in Microsoft Windows.

In earlier versions of Office Plus, Alea Ad-hoc reports were saved with the .alv file extension. You can open Alea Ad-hoc reports that have the .alv file extension but can now save them only as .xlsx files. Alea Ad-hoc reports with the .xlsx extension can be opened either in Office Plus or in Microsoft Excel.

When you save an Ad-hoc report, you can specify the report as the default Ad-hoc report for the cube. That is, the view of the cube which is displayed when you double-click the cube in the Database Structure or click New Ad-hoc Report in the toolbar of the Database Structure.

The Save [Report Type] As dialog displays these locations in which you can save reports:

  • Global Reports
  • Templates

If you save a report to the Global Reports or Templates folders, the report can be opened from the Report Catalog.

Note: Write permission is required to use Save As to save reports. In a Citrix environment you cannot use Save As to save a report to a mapped drive. The error message You do not have permission to save the report in the current folder is displayed.

Saving reports in .html or .mht format

In Excel, you can save formula reports in .html or .mht format.

Deleting reports

To delete a report, right-click the report in the Report Catalog and select Delete. Or, press Del.
