Adding a New Opportunity

Use the Insert Opportunity view to specify opportunity information and add, edit, or remove products, competitors, or contacts. You can also update the opportunity currency and rate if you have Multi-Currency enabled.

To add a new opportunity:

  1. On the New menu, select Opportunity.
  2. Select an Account to be associated with the opportunity. Click (Find) to find an account.
  3. Specify information in the Opportunity information fields:
    Note: Based on the Opportunities options, the value in some fields may already be specified.
    Description
    An opportunity name.

    To help track opportunities, use the account name in the opportunity description.

    Account
    The account to be associated with the opportunity. Click (Find) to find the account.
    Acct. Mgr.
    A person or a team within the organization to manage the account. Click (Find) to find the person or the team.
    Reseller
    A reseller to associate with the opportunity. Click (Find) to find the reseller.
    Est. Close
    An estimated close date for the opportunity. Click (Calendar), select the date, and click OK.
    Sales Process
    An approved sales process to be used for this opportunity.
    Note: The Sales Process field is not displayed if the Infor CRM Advanced bundle is not installed.
    Status
    The company defines the opportunity status list. Select a status from the list.
    Type
    An opportunity type that describes the opportunity. Select a type from the list.
    Lead Source

    Click (Find), to select how the opportunity was generated.

    Close Prob.
    Select a probability that this opportunity is closed from the list.
  4. Add any products, competitors, or contact.
  5. Click (Save) to save the opportunity and close the view, or click (Save & New) to save the current opportunity, and open a new opportunity.
    Note:  Use the Snapshot on the Opportunity Detail view to add a sales potential.
