About Statuses

Statuses are particular combinations of status attributes that you can apply to orders, tank batches, process batches, and batch segments. If there is a status associated with an order or a batch, it will show in the far left column of either the order or batch overview window unless you have customized the window. Statuses are mainly used to be able to communicate with ERP and other systems or to freeze schedules at the time of publication. The Statuses overview window shows the codes as well as the symbols for the statuses.

Note:  The only status-like attribute applicable to downtime is locked.

If you want to lock a batch, that usually means you want to:

  • Prevent it from being produced or stored on another resource.
  • Stop it from becoming bigger or smaller.
  • Prevent it from moving backward or forward in time.
  • Stop part of it from being moved to another batch.
  • Stop anyone from removing it.

The items listed here are the attributes of a preset status called "Locked". You could define another similar status (for example, "My Locked") which omitted item 1. This example applies to whole batches, but many status attributes apply to specific segments of batches.

Note:  Preset statuses cannot be removed.

The show in menu check box indicates whether the status can be applied through Overwrite status or Update status attributes accessed from the Batches menu. The difference between these methods is the setting of the status attributes. Status attributes set to "None" can be updated, while others can be overwritten but not updated.
