Creating cubes This option is not available if the OLAP Server add-in is disabled (OLAP add-in). To create a cube: Create the dimensions which will comprise the cube. See Creating dimensions. Click Cubes in the Database group on the ribbon. The Cubes and Data Areas dialog lists the database aliases to which you have access. Cubes which contain a data area are indicated by a plus (+) icon. Click New Cube. The New Cube on [database alias] dialog lists the dimensions available. Include dimensions in the cube by moving them to the right-hand pane. To move dimensions you can double-click them, use drag & drop or use the arrow buttons between the left and right panes. Note: Dimensions cannot be used more than once in a cube. Specify a cube name, of eight characters or fewer, and a description. Note: You cannot use these characters in cube names: /\:*?"><|'[]();!, spaces. You cannot rename a cube but you can edit its description. Click Edit in the Cubes and Data Areas dialog. Click OK to close the dialog and create the cube. Note: When a new cube is created, it contains no data. Enter data into the cube manually, or import it. See Importing data to cubes. Performance considerations
