Importing data to cubes
The Process Data function is one of two methods of importing large amounts of data into cubes and for importing elements into dimensions. The other is Quick Import.
Quick Import is faster than Process Data but you must have an import file in the correct format. In many situations, the import file is not in the correct format and must be edited before it can be used. In these cases the Process Data function is often more appropriate. However, if you have extremely large volumes of data to import, the speed of Quick Import can justify time spent in preparing the import file in the correct format.
The Process Data function can process data from a text file, a cube, or an ODBC source.
