Data areas
A data area is an area of a cube comprising subsets of one or more dimensions. In the same way that subsets restrict your view to certain groups of elements in a dimension, data areas restrict you to a certain area within a cube.
For example, you might have a cube that tracks products by month, year and region. When you view this cube, you only want to concentrate on the products and regions that are under your management. You can define a data area that is a subgroup of your cube but shows only the regions and products of interest to you.
A data area is a collection of subsets (one for each dimension of the cube). Specify subsets for each dimension to define a data area for a cube.
As with cubes, when you double-click a data area in the Cubes and Data Areas dialog, it creates an Alea Ad-hoc report.
