Lists

At its most basic, an Application Studio report can be a list of database elements and the values associated with them. The elements of a multidimensional database are held in dimensions and hierarchies. You can create lists from the dimensions and hierarchies in the Database Structure pane and drag them into a report to create hyperblocks or to populate other list objects.

When you drag a list into a report it is copied into a local list. If you use the Create Hyperblock Wizard, you can specify the scope of the list definition as 'Local list' or 'Global list'.

Often, you will not want to use a complete list in a report. For example, if you have a list of time periods, you might want to display only the years or the quarters, but not the months, weeks etc. So, Application Studio contains list designers that you use to specify which elements different types of list will contain. You can design lists before or after inserting them into reports.

The Server List Designer is for designing server, custom and variable lists. You can drag dimensions and hierarchies from the Database Structure pane into a report, to create server list-based hyperblocks or to populate other list objects.

The Client List Designer is for designing client lists.

You design lists based on relational data sources with the Relational List Designer.

If Infor Query & Analysis is installed, you create DataLink lists with the DataLink List Designer.

Lists can be valid for the entire Report Catalog (global lists) or for one report only (local lists).

In reports, you display lists in list objects such as combo boxes, list boxes and hyperblocks.
