Database aliases

To report on a database you connect to it through a database alias. A database alias defines a connection to a local or remote database. Connection details vary according to database type and driver but include, for example, the name of the server which hosts the database, and authentication details.

The Database Structure lists the available database aliases.

These are two ways to log on to a database alias:

• Double-click the alias in the Database Structure
• Click the alias and click Log On in the toolbar of the Database Structure.
