Authorized excess transportation cost

Suppliers can be required to request an Authorized Excess Transportation Cost (AETC) number when freight costs exceed the contractual terms. The AETC authorization is requested during shipper generation.

If an AETC number is requested, the shipper cannot be published until the cost is approved and the customer assigns an AETC number to the shipment.

If a customer requires a supplier to request AETC numbers when freight charges exceed contractual terms, the supplier can request an AETC number through the shipper. After the supplier has made a request, the supplier can view the status of the request through Supplier Exchange. Until the supplier's customer accepts or rejects the request, the supplier can update or cancel the request through the view page.
