About Inventory Points
Inventory points, accessed by selecting
, monitor the inventory levels of decoupled products. An inventory point is automatically generated when you create a process step with a decoupled product. The process step defines the minimum (bottom) and maximum (top) levels of inventory to be kept of each decoupled product. The Inventory Points overview window shows the inventory levels of decoupled products. Batches for a process step with a decoupled inflow product draw that product from an inventory point, thus lowering the inventory of the decoupled product. Batches for a process step with a decoupled outflow product push that product to an inventory point, thus increasing the inventory of the decoupled product.
The counting date of an inventory point (represented as a date and time) is the moment at which the initial inventory is recorded.
Depleting or Replenishing an Inventory Point
Replenishing inventory enables you to cover the demands for decoupled products. The inventory point is replenished by batches that deliver the product as main product. Alternative process steps can be specified.
Depleting inventory enables you to create depletion batches that lower the inventory level of an inventory point.
To replenish or deplete a product, select the product and click the
or button to open the corresponding dialog box. Follow the related instructions to create the replenish or deplete batches. You can also select a batch or batches to be replenished or depleted in the planning board. Select Replenish or Deplete dialog box.
