Importing text elements

Note:

You can edit the export file that includes the exported text elements and add missing translations of text elements. Do not add rows to the file that you import. To export and import text elements, ensure that you have administrator permissions.

The import file must belong to the project and the languages of the import file must exist in the project:

Languages tab

To import text elements:

  1. Select the Text Elements node underneath a project.
  2. Click the Text Elements tab.
  3. To import text elements, click Import in the toolbar. The Import dialog opens.
  4. Specify this information:
    Import file
Specify the import file name and click OK or browse to a folder, select a file to import, click Open and click OK.
You can import these file types: Excel XML (*.xml), CSV (Comma-separated Values) (*.csv), and .Net resource file (*.resx). Before text elements are imported, they are compared with the existing text elements. If no match by text element ID is found, their unique names are compared. If a match is found, the existing text element will be overwritten (its properties and all its translations). Only text elements that neither match by text element ID nor by unique name will be created anew.
    Languages
When you have selected the import file, the available languages that are included in the import file are shown. Select the check boxes of the languages that must be imported.
    Create missing languages
To import languages that are not yet included in the current project, select this check box.
  5. To start the import, click OK.

If the translation of a text element to import is missing, a warning is shown that the object that uses the translation can appear empty in the user interface. The name of the object and the language in which this happens is displayed. You can choose to import the text element or not and to perform the same action for all text elements of this import.

If the import is completed successfully, a message shows the number of new elements, updated elements, and skipped elements. Click OK.
