Exporting text elements

Note: 

You can edit the export file that includes the exported text elements and add missing translations of text elements. Do not add rows to the file that you import. To export and import text elements, ensure that you have administrator permissions.

The import file must belong to the project and the languages of the import file must exist in the project:

To export text elements:

  1. Select the Text Elements node underneath a project.
  2. Click the Text Elements tab.
  3. To export text elements, click Export in the toolbar. The Export dialog opens.
  4. Specify this information:
    Export folder
    Specify the export folder or browse to a folder, select it, and click OK.
    Type
    Select the export file type from the drop-down list. You can export text elements to these file types: CSV (Comma-separated Values), CSV (TAB-separated Values), Excel XML, and .Net resource file.
    Languages
    Select the check boxes of the languages to export.
    Export only visible rows
    Select this check box to export only the visible rows from the string table.
  5. To start the export, click OK. A message displays the number of text elements that have been exported successfully. Click OK.
    The default name of the export file has this syntax: <Name of the project>_SharedString<Name of the export folder>.xml, or <Name of the project>_SharedString<Name of the export folder>.csv, or String.<language code>-<language code locale>.
