Cell coordinates and rule optimization

OLAP Server can provide information about how a specified cell is calculated. This can be useful in debugging and optimizing cube rules and dimension rules. See OLAP Server Rules Engine on the installation DVD.

The information is available in the Edit Note dialog in Alea ad-hoc reports and in the Cell Note Editor in Ad-hoc reports.

See these topics:

What information is available, and how it is displayed depend on:

  • Report type
  • Database alias type

In both dialogs, information about the coordinates and internal and external keys of the selected cell is available.

In Alea ad-hoc reports, click Cell Coordinates in the Edit Note dialog.

In Ad-hoc reports, click Cell Properties in the toolbar of the Cell Note Editor.

If the database connection is through the Infor BI OLAP Provider, clicking Cell Properties displays additional information about the type of cell. For example, if it is a consolidated cell, it displays information about the consolidation, including the number of cells consolidated. If the database connection is through the Infor CPM Relational Provider, only the cell coordinates are displayed.

In the Edit Note dialog, the additional information is also available, but not by default. To view the information in the Edit Note dialog, specify Value? and click OK.
