Logging on

The Log on dialog is displayed when you enter the Application Studio WebServices URL in your browser or if you click Log off after you have logged on. The options of the Log on dialog vary according to the Application Studio WebServices settings specified in the Repository. For example, you might have access to all repositories or just one.

To log on to a repository, project and report catalog:

  1. Select the authentication system to use.
  2. Specify the user name and password.
    • If Application Studio WebServices is configured to use Windows authentication and the browser is Internet Explorer, the User name field is automatically filled with your Windows user name. That is, the name which you use to log on to the computer. You do not have to enter your Windows password.
    • In Firefox, you are prompted to provide your Windows user name and password.
Application Studio WebServices stores a single cookie on your computer. The cookie contains your user name, and the repository, project and report catalog of the most recent successful log on. The cookie is generated after you log on. If you disable cookies in your browser, you can log on as normal, but the Log on dialog will not store your user name for the next time you log on.
Note: Your password is not stored in the cookie.
  3. Select the required repository and click Connect.
The repository contains the metadata for user administration, report catalogs, projects and reports. You must connect to a repository to display reports.
Note: When a repository registration is added or removed on the web server, the change is not reflected in the Application Studio WebServices Log on dialog until Internet Information Services is restarted on the web server.
  4. Select the project and report catalog.
  5. Click OK.
