About Undo

Note:  Undo refers to scheduling activities only.

Undo allows you to undo a scheduling action and return to a previous version of the current schedule. This function replaces the current schedule by the one that was in place before the last scheduling function was executed. It is as if that function was never executed. Undo is accessed from the Edit menu.

Undo scheduling actions only works for scheduling actions that have been performed since the data file has been opened. It does not work if a data file has been closed and reopened. You can undo more than one scheduling action. If a scheduling action can be undone, that action will display in the Edit menu, i.e. Undo Create Batches. If you undo that action and there is another that can be undone, it will then show in the menu. The number of scheduling actions defined on the General tab of the Preferences window limits the number of scheduling actions that can be undone.

Certain functions are not reversible. If you have an action that can be reversed, and then an action that cannot be reversed, the system warns you that previous scheduling actions will not be able to be undone if you continue. These functions include:

  • a resource is deleted from a resource group and in a previous version of the schedule there was a batch allocated to the resource.
  • a resource group is deleted from process steps and in a previous version of the schedule there was a batch for that process step allocated to that group.
  • a process step is deleted, and in a previous version of the schedule there was a batch based on that process step.
  • a status is deleted and in a previous version of the schedule there was a batch with that status.
  • a claim for enabling resources on resources and resource groups is changed and there are batches allocated to this resource and/or resource group in the actual or previous version of the schedule.

For functions that have an Apply button, such as Schedule Process Batches and Distribute Process Batches, if you click Apply and then Cancel, it works like Undo. You can continue using Apply and Cancel or use the Undo and Redo functionality.

The Undo function works with scheduling actions on the planning board, the Batches menu, the Schedule menu and the Inventory menu.
