Choosing slice elements in Formula and Ad-hoc reports

Typically, one dimension forms the columns of a report and another forms the rows. Some or all of the remaining dimensions are used as slice dimensions. The values displayed in the report change according to the selections you make from the slice dimensions. When you add a list or dimension as a slice-dimension, its default element is displayed, and used in the report.

You change the selection of slice-elements in the Select Elements dialog.

The Select Elements dialog is displayed:

  • In Ad-hoc reports when you click an element of a slice dimension
  • In Formula reports when you double-click an element of a slice dimension
  • In Formula reports when you double-click cells which contain these formulas:

    MEMBER.CNAME

    MMEMBER.CNAME

The options of the Select Elements dialog differ according to the type of report in which it is opened. In ad-hoc reports there are multiple options to navigate and select elements. In formula reports, in most cases, there is only the option to select an individual element.
