Editing a database alias

You can edit the properties of a database alias in three places:
The Properties pane of the Repository Explorer
To open the Properties pane, select the database alias and click Properties. Many properties of cubes and dimensions relate to caching. Caching improves performance by saving frequently used or requested data. Sometimes it is better to turn caching off. If multiple concurrent users work on the same report, the cache needs to be updated frequently to keep the data current. This may outweigh the benefits of caching.
There are different caches for different types of data. Some are set at the cube level and others at the dimension level. Settings at one level may override settings at another.
Note: In the Properties pane, editable properties are displayed in bold type. You can specify that dimensions inherit the cache settings of the cube. In this case, only the Inherit option at Dimension level is editable.
The Edit Database Alias dialog
To open the Edit Database Alias dialog, right-click the database alias and select Edit.
In the Properties pane and the Edit Database Alias dialog you can edit the information which you supply when you create a database alias.
Note: To use the Properties pane or Edit Database Alias dialog, you must log off from the alias.
The Manage Invalid List and Calculations dialog
Select Extras > Database Properties.
