Component status
As with other SunSystems static data records, an item component record contains a status showing its current processing status. This status affects what can or cannot be carried out with the component as explained below. For ease, the icon displayed next to the component in the BOM Structure section of the BOM dialog indicates the status and these are also shown below.

| Open |
|
This is the default status and is set automatically when you add a new record. All actions are available to a component with this status. |
| Hidden |
|
This status might be used so that the component is not available to users and makes all fields inaccessible in the Details section of the BOM dialog. In order to edit a component with this status, right click on the component in the BOM Structure section and select Unhide. The relevant fields can then be edited. |
| Suspended/Held |
|
This status might be used when a component is to be temporarily taken out of use. You can still edit a component with this status. |
| Closed/Completed |
|
This status might be used when a component is no longer applicable. You cannot edit a component with this status, but you can change it to another status in order to be able to edit it, as long as Include has been selected from the Action menu. |
You can change the status of a component by double-clicking on the status field. A drop-down list of the statuses is displayed. Select the required status.
