Using the Inquiry Results Forms
Many of the inquiry result forms can summarize the account transaction details, and can display both the summarized and detailed transaction information. For example, if the inquiry lists the transactions posted to an account it may be able to summarize them by posting date or by accounting period.
Summarized lines are identified by the (+) plus sign in the ++++ column on the grid. The number of plus signs displayed indicates the level of summarization. Up to four levels of summarization are available, although a particular inquiry may not use all of these levels.
- You can use the , or , actions to display the details of one or more summarized lines. You can use the Implode, and Implode All, actions to summarize all or selected details to a selected level.
For example, the Account Balance Inquiry can display the postings for an account at three different levels of summarization:
- at the first level of summary (+) - a total of the postings by date, within period, for each account.
- at the second level of summary (++) - a total of the postings to each account by period
- at the highest level of summary (+++) - a total of all the postings for each account.
Using Explode
You can highlight a summarized line, or range of summarized lines, and select the
action to display the next level of detail available for each summarization. For example, if you explode the highest account level summary total, the period totals are listed. You can then explode a period total to display the date totals or list the detailed transactions.
The
action performs the same function for all of the summarized lines.Using Implode
You can use the
, or , actions to summarize the detailed information to a particular level. For example, to summarize to the second level of summarization you would select an existing second level summary line on the display and select Implode or Implode All to summarize to that level.
Using aaa
You can drill down on some of the transaction fields to display related details, depending on the drill associations that have been defined. Double-click to drill down on a field.
For example, in Account Inquiry (ACQ) you can drill down on the account number for a transaction, to display any other transactions posted to this account. This uses the standard Account Code Drill which is linked to the account code field. You can also drill down on one of the transaction's analysis codes to view the analysis code description and other code details.
