Scheduling Process Batches
- Select process batches in the planning board.
-
Select
Schedule > Schedule
Process Batches.
The Schedule process batches (selection) dialog box is displayed. Note that the fields may be slightly different depending on your selection. As only existing batches will be scheduled, you have the option of clicking Apply to see a preview of the results of the schedule batches operation. This preview only includes the selected batches, and not inflow or outflow batches.Note: In the Title bar, the text in the brackets of the dialog box shows you what kind of batches will be scheduled when you click OK.
- When you select batches to schedule in the planning board, the dialog box header reads: Schedule process batches (selection).
- When you reach this dialog box from the Create Inflow dialog box for orders for an end stage, the dialog box header reads: Schedule process batches (end product batches).
- When you reach this dialog box from the Create Inflow dialog box for coupled batches, the dialog box header reads: Schedule process batches (coupled batches).
- From the schedule batches list box, select as soon as possible or just in time to schedule batches as early or as late as possible. The most suitable resource from the resource group is chosen.
-
In the next list box, select either a starting or finishing time.
This field will either be from or until depending on whether you selected as
soon as possible or just in time in the previous step.
Note: If you select other, you can enter a date and time. During the calculation of the "start of first batch" or "end of last batch" option, downtime is considered.
- You can define the order of batch placement using the sequence list box. This consists of the process step-defined sequence code, latest time, earliest time, the current sequence, and any other sequences you may have defined.
- If you have defined cycles, you will be able to select one. Batches will be scheduled as soon as possible or just in time starting at the cycle's start or end. If not enough time is available to schedule all the batches in the cycle, then the remaining batches will be scheduled outside of the selected cycle. If you select the always keep within cycle check box, batches will be forced within the selected cycle even when this causes overlap.
- Select strict sequence (do not fill gaps) if you want to fix the current sequence. If you do not select this check box, the sequence may be changed.
- If you want to specify how allocation should be done: select keep allocation if you want to keep batches on their current resource. Alternatively, select allocate to if you want to be able to specify the resource allocation of selected or newly created batches.
- Click Apply to preview the effects in the planning board.
- Click OK to accept the changes. If you click Cancel, no change is applied to your selected batches.
