Creating an Interface - Entity Tab - ASCII

You must create the Interface Code and populate the General tab before continuing. Special interfaces, in which more than one entity is interfaced simultaneously, include an entity and format page for each entity
  1. Select the attribute to include by double-clicking it. The attribute appears on the right. Alternatively, highlight the attribute and click the single right arrow button.
    Note:  The left panel contains all attributes that are not coupled and the right panel contains the attributes that are coupled.
  2. Open the format definition window for a particular attribute by double-clicking the column number for the attribute.
    You will see one of the following types of dialog boxes. The dialog box that opens varies based on the type of attribute selected. The types of dialog boxes are listed below. Click on the links for steps on using the dialog boxes.
    Note:  The entry in the example column on the Entity tab will give an indication as to which type of attribute it is.
    • String dialog box - used for codes and text. Examples of attributes calling this dialog box are Codes and Descriptions. The entry in the example column is either "example" or "123456".
    • Boolean dialog box - used for true/false or yes/no values. Examples of attributes calling this dialog box are Is Critical and Use Default. The entry in the example column is "Yes/No/-".
    • Integer dialog box - used if the attribute is a number. Examples of attributes calling this dialog box are Inflow and Quantity. The entry in the example column is "1234.5678".
    • Date/Time dialog box - used for dates and times. Examples of attributes calling this dialog box are start time and end time. The entry in the example column is a date format.
    • Duration dialog box - used for duration of time. Examples of attributes calling this dialog box are Idle Time and Duration. The entry in the example column is "2034".
    Note:  If you change the format, the change is reflected in the example column.
  3. Click OK to save your changes and close the window. Alternatively, continue populating tabs on this window.
