Creating a Search
-
Open the overview window in which you want to search and click
Search.
If there is no Search button, then this functionality is not available in the particular window you have chosen. Alternatively, if you want to create an inventory point search, select Inventory > Search. In either case, the search window is displayed.
-
If you want to edit an existing search, select it in the select
search list box.
Keep in mind that this list box only contains searches specific to the overview window you have opened.
-
Select a field from the pop-up menu in the field column.
The pop-up includes most fields present in the relevant entry window. In the example above, the first field selection is the stage type field in the Stage Entry window. (If there is already a search in the pop-up, you are not editing it. Clicking Save at the end of this procedure actually runs a save as procedure.)
-
Make a comparator selection from the pop-up menu from the
comparator column.
A comparator is a means of comparison between two items. Your field choice determines which comparators are available.
- Select a value from the pre-filled pop-up menu in the Value column or enter a value manually.
-
If you want to add another selection criterion, click the
Add button and repeat
steps 3 - 5 above.
You will see that the last column automatically switches to and, suggesting a search that displays records that satisfy your first two selection criteria. You can change and (and similar ands in any subsequent criteria except the last one) to make it do other things. Some fields cannot be edited:
- Column 1 contains the index of the record in the area list. It is generated automatically and cannot be modified.
- Column 2 may contain parentheses generated by step 5.
- The last line in column 6 may contain parentheses generated by step 5.
Note: Remove selection criteria by using the Remove button and the pop-up list of index numbers. After removing a record, the remaining records are automatically re-indexed. - To save the search as the default search, select the default search option. The default search is displayed when first opening the search dialog box for a window.
- Select the search selection check box if you want this search to apply only to records already selected in the overview window.
-
If you want the search to be accessible from the search list of
the entity's overview window, select
overview search.
For example, you can select this option for a search on orders. From the Orders overview window, to access the saved search, click the arrow button next to the Search button.
- If you want the search to be accessible from the Inventory > Select Search menu, select inventory search.
-
Click
Save.
A dialog box is displayed.
-
Enter a name for the search and click the
OK button.
If you are editing a search, this name will be the same as its current name. The search is saved and displays in the select search list box. If you have modified a saved search, the Save & Search button is enabled. This button allows you to quickly save and run the search.
