About Product Variants
The product variants functionality must be used if one process batch can produce two variants of the same product that must be stored separately in tanks. The main product of the process step is the product of the process batches; the variants are different varieties of this product that are distinguished in the tank batches. When batches are created with joining, the process batches are joined normally. Tank batches are joined per variant, so that different variants are kept separate. If a specific product variant is needed for a following process step, then the correct variant must be used as inflow product. Product variants can be specified when creating a process step.
