Object Authorizations for User

Use this form to set up form-level security for a user or to set up middle-tier security for a client that accesses an IDO.

If the user or client is part of a group, the authorizations that you set up on this form override any group authorizations that apply to the user or client.

You typically authorize privileges for users of forms in the application. You can also authorize access to your application data by an external program, such as a Web page or RSDAO client application. The authorization allows the application to connect to the database and access an IDO and its methods. To set such authorizations, set Object Type to Middleware.

Privileges authorized for IDOs have no effect on forms. The application disables all middle-tier security and manages security at the form level. IDO security settings are in effect only when the IDO is accessed by an external client application, which is identified by a user name and password defined in the Users form.

Use the Object Type field to toggle between records for form-level and middle-tier authorizations.

You can override certain privileges set on this form in the Applications section of Configuration Manager. Revoked privileges to insert records and delete records can be effectively granted with regard to subcollections on a form. See the help for the Configuration Manager.
