Searching for users and groups

In the Register Users and Groups dialog, you can search for users and groups of the authentication system provider and take over the selected search result in the Selected users and groups section.

Note: Some authentication system providers do not support searching for users and groups. In this case, the Search for a user or a group button on the toolbar is disabled.

To search for users and groups:

  1. To search for a user or group in the Register Users and Groups dialog, click Search for a user or a group on the toolbar. The Search for Users and Groups dialog opens.
  2. The search criteria that you can specify depend on the authentication system provider that you use. If you use Infor Federation Services, for example, you can search by group names and user names. Because Infor Federation Services always performs a wildcard search, you have to specify only the search text. If you use a Windows authentication system provider, for example, you can search by group or user name or by the account name:
    User or group name
Select this option and specify the user or group name.
    Account name
Select this option and specify the account name.
  3. To start the search, click Search. The search result that matches the specified search criterion is displayed in the Results list below. If no search criteria are specified, then an error is shown next to the Search button when you click it.
  4. To add the users and groups of your search result to the Selected users and groups section in the Register Users and Groups dialog, select the users and groups of your search result and click OK.
