Activating and configuring Infor Federation Services authentication

The interface information for the IFS authentication is included in the Infor BI Repository Administration. However, the IFS authentication is registered by default only if it has been selected when creating the repository database.

To activate and configure IFS authentication:

  1. To register the authentication system, right-click the User Management node in the tree and select the Authentication Systems command. The Authentication Systems dialog opens.
  2. Click Register. The Register Authentication System dialog opens.
  3. Select the Infor Federation Services check box.
  4. Click OK. This activates all versions of the DLL files for the IFS authentication. The IFS authentication system is now shown in the Authentication Systems dialog.
  5. To configure the IFS authentication provider settings, select the IFS authentication system in the Authentication Systems dialog and click Properties. The Infor Federation Services Authentication System Properties dialog opens.
  6. Specify the log-on data that is required to register users and groups of the IFS authentication provider:
    Server URL
Specify the complete server URL to access the IFS application. The server URL must begin with http:// and point to the root of the IFS instance.
    User Name
Specify the user name to log on to the IFS for a given tenant. The IFS user belongs to a particular tenant and therefore, implicitly defines the binding between the repository database and a tenant. The specified user must have the AttributeServiceCaller permission assigned in IFS.
    Password
Specify the password to log on to the IFS.
  7. Select the check box Show users of registered groups to display the IFS users who are registered by their group membership in the User Management of the repository database.
  8. To check the configured IFS authentication, click Test. The URL is checked to determine whether it points to a valid IFS instance. The specified user name and password are checked to determine whether these are valid credentials. In addition, it is validated whether the AttributeServiceCaller permission is assigned to the specified user.
  9. To save the Infor Federation Services Authentication System Properties, click OK.

When you have activated and configured the IFS authentication system, you may add users and groups in the User Management.

    See Registering users and groups.
