Administering authentication systems

To make users and groups of external authentication systems available, you must first register the authentication system. To register the authentication system, right-click the User Management node in the tree and select the Authentication Systems command. In the Authentication Systems dialog, the authentication systems are shown that are registered in the User Management of a repository database.

To register an available authentication system, click Register. In the Register Authentication Systems dialog, select the check box of an authentication system to activate the authentication system for the User Management of the repository database. When you register an authentication system in the Register Authentication Systems dialog, the information is stored that the authentication system is active for this particular repository database, but not the authentication provider code itself.

Authentication systems are DLL files that contain the interface information and are part of the Infor BI Repository Administration. It is not required to update any authentication provider in an existing repository database. Whenever the Infor BI Repository Administration software is updated, the authentication providers are automatically updated as well.

To display the properties of an authentication system, select it in the list and click Properties. A dialog opens displaying the options of the authentication system. The authentication provider settings that you specify here are stored in the repository database.

If you have made changes in the Authentication Systems dialog, you will be disconnected from the repository and reconnected, for the changes to take effect.

To remove an authentication system from the User Management, select it in the list and click Unregister.

Caution: If you unregister an authentication system, its users and groups are removed. This may lead to serious problems, if you happen to remove the sole administrator.

Infor BI Repository Administration supports these authentication systems:

  • Windows
  • LDAP
  • OA Framework
  • Infor CPM Applications
  • Infor Federation Services
  • Infor S&OP
Note: To manage the authentication systems, you require the permission Administer Repository. To make the users and groups of an external authentication system available, you must add them in the User Management on the Users and Groups tab.
