Communication
The component provides options for general communication settings. The table in the right-hand part of the Administration Console displays in the left column the options and in the right one drop-down lists or entry fields for the settings. In the lower part of the table you find brief descriptions of the options (which are displayed when clicking them).

| Local | Enable local communication on this computer. |
| Compression | Enable data compression for native connections. |
| Encryption | Enable data encryption for native connections. |
| Fully qualified domain name | Select YES to use fully qualified domain names (Computername.Domainsuffix). |
| Connection timeout | Number of seconds for establishing a TCP connection. |
| Computer IP address | IP address of this computer. |
| Listen port TCP | The TCP listen port of the OLAP Server Communication Manager on this computer. |
| Socket buffer size | The size of the socket buffer for data transfer. |
| Listen port UDP | The listen port of this computer for the data transfer between the OLAP Server Communication Managers. |
| Listen Port HTTP | Port on which the Communication Manager listens for HTTP XMLA Requests. |
| Listen Port HTTPS | Port on which the Communication Manager listens for HTTPS XMLA Requests. |
If you change the settings by modifying the ALEA.INI or DB.INI files, or by using a separate window within the MMC, the resulting changes are visible only if you first click another component and then click the changed component again.
