Working with multiple browser instances
This section describes the differences in the way Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7, version 8, and Mozilla Firefox handle multiple browser instances and server sessions. That is, whether opening the browser more than once creates more than one session to communicate with the server.
Firefox
By default, you can log on to Application Studio WebServices through only one instance of Firefox, on one computer. That is:
- You go to the Start menu and start Firefox.
- You log on to Application Studio WebServices
- You go to the Start menu and start Firefox a second time.
- You try to log on to Application Studio WebServices but you cannot.
Although Firefox is open twice, only one instance of Firefox is running. Both browsers share the same Application Studio WebServices server session.
You can change the default behavior. To allow multiple instances of
Firefox to run, use the
-no-remote
command line option.
Internet Explorer
- You can start Internet Explorer 7 multiple times and log on to Application Studio WebServices in each.
- The default behavior of Internet Explorer 8 is the same as that of Firefox. But you can start multiple instances of Internet Explorer 8 by selecting Application Studio WebServices in each session which you open. from the Internet Explorer 8 File menu. You can log on to
