Removing data from a report

There is no data for 2006 and subsequent years, so we will remove them from the report. We will look at two ways of doing this.

To use Structure Selection to remove 2006 and subsequent years:

  1. Open the Tutorial3 report.
  2. Click Design Mode. Click the Show/Hide Right-docked panes button in the toolbar.
The List Designer is displayed at the right of the screen.
  3. Click the border of the Period hyperblock.
The List Designer is enabled. The List Designer contains five panes which offer various methods to control which elements form a list and how they are displayed. By default, Structure Selection is selected. In Structure Selection, the different levels of the Period dimension are listed.
  4. Expand All Years and select the check boxes for 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005, leaving the check boxes of the remaining years clear.
  5. Click Apply changes to the list at the top of the List Designer.
In View Mode, only the selected years are shown in the report, but you can no longer drill down to the quarters and months. An alternative is to expand each selected year in Structure Selection and select the check boxes of each quarter and month for each of the years, but this is time-consuming even with only the selected years.
  6. In Design Mode, clear all the check boxes you have selected in Structure Selection and apply the changes to the list.
The first practicable solution is to use a regular expression.
