Managing report catalog permissions

At the report catalog level you manage the user permissions for Application Studio. Some report catalog roles are predefined.

The Manage Permissions dialog can be opened from the Log On dialog or from the report catalog To open it from the Log On dialog, connect to a repository and then click the arrow on the Add button of the Report Catalog. Select User Management.

To open the Manage Permissions dialog from the Report Catalog, right-click the report catalog entry in the Repository Explorer. Or, select the Report Catalog and click Manage permissions in the list of common tasks.
Note: Each folder and report in the Report Catalog has a Manage Permissions dialog, accessible by a right-click.

Report catalog permissions

Report Catalog Permission Description
Administer Bearers can maintain the report catalog permissions. The permission is assigned to the report catalog roles AdministratorRole, MasterRole and ReportDesignerRole. See Predefined report catalog roles. View permission is also required.
Browse Folders/Reports Bearers can browse reports and folders. The permission is assigned to the report-catalog roles MasterRole, ReportDesignerRole, and the ReportViewerRole.
Delete Bearers can delete the project (the report catalog or its subordinate elements must not be checked out by other users). The permission is assigned to the report catalog roles MasterRole and ReportDesignerRole. View permission is also required.
Edit Scripts Bearers can edit the properties of the report catalog (the project must not be checked out by other users), and to add elements (for example, folders and scripts). The permission is assigned to the report catalog roles MasterRole and ReportDesignerRole.
View Bearers can view the Report Catalog Permission Management. The permission is assigned to all report catalog roles.
Edit Gives permission to edit objects and to delete and create subordinate objects. The permission is assigned to the report catalog roles MasterRole and ReportDesignerRole. The View permission is also required.

Predefined report catalog roles

These report catalog roles and user and group assignments are predefined in the User Management dialog of the Report Catalog:
Report Catalog Role Description
AdministratorRole Contains the report catalog permissions Administer and Read. See Report catalog permissions. It is assigned to the Admin user.
MasterRole Contains all report catalog permissions. It is assigned to the Admin user.
ReportDesignerRole Contains all report catalog permissions. It is assigned to the Report Designer group.
ReportViewerRole Contains the report catalog permissions Search Reports/Folders and Read. It is assigned to the View Mode group.
ViewRole Contains the report catalog permission Read. It is assigned to the Admin user and to the View Mode group.
