Export, application component and print wizards

The Print Wizard and the Export Wizard are primarily used to share reports with other Application Studio users. The Print and Export wizards enable you to print/export single reports and report books and to specify which views of the data to output. For example, in a report with two combo boxes which contain four years and four products respectively, there are 16 possible combinations of elements - 16 views of the report. If you print or export without using a wizard, only the current view of the data is output.

The print wizard and export wizard and differ only in their labeling and in their final steps (Print Settings and Export Settings).

The Print and Export wizards have these steps:

  • Select Report or Report Book to print/export
  • Print Ranges/Export Ranges
  • Page Setup
  • Header and Footer
  • Printer Settings/Export Settings

The Page Setup and Header and Footer steps match the Page Setup and Header and Footer tabs of the page setup dialog.

The Application Component Wizard is primarily used, by content developers, to create exports for inclusion in reporting application components. Reporting application components are used to deliver new and updated reporting applications. The Application Component Wizard provides control over which reports and dependencies are exported.
