Inserting headers and footers

Headers and footers have effect only in reports viewed in Application Studio WebServices or in Dashboards. Content placed within headers and footers does not scroll horizontally with other report content. Headers and footers in this context are not to be confused with headers and footers that are displayed on each page of printed or exported reports.

SeeSpecifying the page setup.

Headers and footers are useful when you design reports for use as forms or dialogs. Often such reports have fixed areas at the top and bottom which contain, for example, OK and Cancel control buttons. But placing content within headers and footers does not, in itself, fix the content in place. For that reason, headers and footers are often used in combination with the anchoring and positioning options of the Object Properties dialog of objects other than hyperblocks.

See Formatting list objects.

To insert a header or footer:

  1. In Design mode, click the row number of the row to be the bottom row of the header, or the top row of the footer.
  2. Click Report Header or Report Footer on the Objects toolbar.
