ADDRESS

Gets the reference of a worksheet cell from specified row and column numbers.

By default, the function returns an absolute cell reference. You can use optional parameters to return a relative reference or, for example, a relative row and absolute column reference.

Syntax

=ADDRESS(row_number,column_number,optional)

These are the optional parameters:

  • 1: Absolute
  • 2: Absolute row, relative column
  • 3: Relative row, absolute column
  • 4: Relative

Examples

These functions return $C$2:

  • =ADDRESS(2,3)
  • =ADDRESS(2,3,1)

This function uses an optional parameter to return $C2:

=ADDRESS(2,3,3)
