Design Mode, Debug Mode, and View Mode

There are three report modes: Design, Debug, and View. You design reports in Design Mode, check them in Debug Mode and display them in View Mode.

In Design Mode, Debug Mode and View Mode, you can select Full Screen mode. Press Shift + F5 or select View > Full Screen. In Design Mode and Debug Mode, the toolbars continue to be displayed. Press Esc to quit Full Screen mode.

Access to the different modes can be granted to different users or groups.

Set preferences for using the modes in the Settings dialog.

Design Mode

You design reports in Design Mode. To open Design Mode, click Design on the Mode toolbar.

See Enabling menus and toolbars.

In Design Mode, you place list objects, for example, hyperblocks and combo boxes, enter formulas, and format reports.

See Defining reports .

You can drag objects from the panes of the Repository Explorer onto the worksheet.

View Mode

To open View Mode, click View on the Mode toolbar.

See Enabling menus and toolbars.

Depending on the permission, the Repository Explorer can be used in View Mode. The List Designer cannot be used in View Mode.

Debug Mode

To open Debug Mode, click Debug in the Mode toolbar.

See Enabling menus and toolbars.

Debug Mode combines features of Design Mode and View Mode. Reports in Debug Mode display no more than 20 list elements. Formulas are visible in Debug Mode, but not in View Mode. So, you can use Debug Mode to check both the appearance and functionality of a report in a single view.
