Schedules

A schedule contains requirements for a specific part. The schedule is part of the release (demand) that contains header information and schedules for various parts.

Schedule types

The demand can include three types of schedules:

  • Material Releases
  • Shipping Schedules
  • eKanban
Note:  If the Kanban functionality is implemented, the eKanban schedule is generated for each signal that represents the demand.

If the demand includes three schedules, the demand is fulfilled in the order of preference:

  • Kanban
  • Shipping Schedule
  • Material Release

You can accept or reject the Material Release or Shipping Schedule demand at either the requirement or schedule level, based on the configuration set by the customer. The demand initially has an accepted status. You can modify the status of the demand within the time defined by the customer.

You can review the demand summary for all the parts associated with a specific destination using the Demand Summary menu.

Fulfillment strategies

When the requirements corresponding to a release are shipped, the requirements are decremented in the First-In-First-Out(FIFO) order based on the requirement date/time and optionally by pull signal. When the new demand schedules are published, the shippers with the Staged (unpublished) and the In-Transit status are considered to meet the requirements, based on the customer configuration.

The following fulfillment strategies (options) are considered to meet the requirements of the new schedule:

  • None

The line items on the staged and the in-transit shippers are not considered. The requirements of the newly published Schedule are fulfilled as new shippers are created.

  • Classic Fulfillment

The line items on the staged and the in-transit shippers are considered only if the requirement date (and optionally the pull signal) of the schedule for which the shipper is created is the same as the requirement date of the new schedule.

  • Staged Shippers
The line items on the staged shipper are considered to meet the requirements of the new Schedule. Consequently, the Required Quantity specified for the schedule decreases.
Note:  In-transit shipments are not considered for the new schedule.
  • Staged and In-transit Shippers
Only the line items on staged shippers and in-transit shippers created after the most recent shipment are considered to meet the requirements of the new schedule. Consequently, the Required Quantity specified for the schedule decreases.
Note:  The shipper ID of the most recent shipment delivered is included in the new release.
