What are profiles?
A profile defines:
- the type of data transfer: import only, export only, process, internal transfer (export followed by import) and external transfer (import followed by export).
- the source and target data formats to be used in the transfer process, depending upon the transfer type specified.
- any runtime options for the profile (which depend upon the source and target selected), and whether the options can be overridden at run time.
- export filtering and summarization, if applicable.
- any data transformation to be carried out during the transfer process.
