Invoking forms from outside the application

Uwaga:  Form Load Caching is available in the Windows client only.

SunSystems can be supplied with parameters to enable direct access to a particular form. This enables you to create desktop shortcuts to frequently used functions which can also be invoked via the command prompt.

Uwaga:  This feature is accessible via terminal services or Citrix presentation server and requires the published application properties to be amended accordingly.

Using Command Prompt, available from the Start menu, enter the following:

"AAA\<executable>.exe" /Code DDD

Where:

  • AAA is the full path of where SunSystems is installed.
  • <executable> is the SunSystems application executable in your installation.
  • " " quotes must be included around the path and executable
  • /Code is case sensitive and must be typed exactly as it is written here.
  • DDD is the function shortcut, for example, ADD is the shortcut for the Addresses function.
Uwaga:  Previous versions of SunSystems allowed several other parameters, such as Business Unit, Budget Code, and Form Name, to be specified. These can no longer be specified on the command line or within a desktop shortcut, but can be added to a function by creating a function extension within Security Console or User Manager. Once created and extended this new function can then be invoked from the command line or a desktop shortcut. This change has been made as a security enhancement, as only permitted users can create and extend functions.

Creating a Form specific Shortcut on your Desktop

You can create a shortcut to open the form you require from your desktop. Right-click your SunSystems shortcut and select properties. On the shortcut tab append the required properties to the Target location outside the quotation marks.

You can also change the icon if you want by clicking the Change Icon button on the shortcut tab and selecting an alternative from those displayed.

If you require access to SunSystems as well as the form you have specified, create an additional shortcut first.

Uwaga:  If you access a form directly and subsequently open SunSystems, the operator login details are retained. Therefore, you should use the Operator Activity menu option in Security Console or User Manager to clear the operator, log out and log back in.
