Amending captions
Controls such as labels, tab controls and frames all have caption properties that may be amended.
- Select the control. In this case, only one control may be selected at a time.
- From Caption on the Property bar, click the pull down menu in the Value column alongside. The Specify Caption Text dialog is displayed.
-
Specify the type of text you want to create and then click
OK to save your settings.
The options are:
- Use System Text
- This is provided automatically by the system, depending on the type of control. You are not able to amend the caption if Use System Default is enabled. This option is not available for all control types.
- Use Language Specific Text
- A caption must be specified for each language that you are serialized for. After changing the current language, repeat steps 1-2. You should also enter Default Text for all languages not specified. If you do not specify a language equivalent the default text is displayed at run time.
- Use Data Dictionary Text
- This option displays an alternative dialog from which you can search the Data Dictionary for alternative text. This option has the benefit of being able to produce equivalent text in other languages if it exists in the Data Dictionary.
- Specifying Data Dictionary Text:
- Enter a text string you want to search for or select the text
from the history of recently specified search strings.
Specify one of the following filters:
- Exactly Matching the Search Text
- Beginning with the Search Text
- Containing the Search Text
- Click Search to retrieve appropriate text strings from the server. If you have checked the Show Text References check box on the Advanced tab of the Options dialog, the Data Dictionary references for each caption are displayed in the Text field of the Specify Caption Text dialog.
- Select a text string.
