Requesting a Report Using the Report Action

Many SunSystems functions include the Report action. This allows you to produce a report from within the function, without having to select it from the menu.

This is particularly useful for the static data functions because it enables you to print the relevant static data report immediately after you have updated the data.

Note: A document format must have been defined using Document Format (DFS) for the report you wish to produce.

See Setting Up Document Formats.

To produce a report from within a function:

  1. From the Action menu select Report.
  2. Enter the general report parameters required to produce the report on the Document Format form and select OK. Control is passed to SunSystems Reporting Services.
  3. If additional information is required, the Parameter Editor dialog is displayed. Enter the required details and click OK.
  4. Report Manager produces the report or an error message is displayed if the report could not be produced for any reason.
The report is printed automatically if the Print option was selected on the Document Format form.

The report is stored in a file if the Store option was selected on the Document Format form. See Retrieving Stored Reports.

The report is displayed in Report Manager if the View option was selected on the Document Format form.

    See Viewing Reports Online.
