Running a Report

There are multiple ways a report can be run within SunSystems, including:

  • From a report shortcut menu item or favourite in the menu panel
  • From the Action menu of a system form; see Requesting a Report Using the Report Action
  • From a SunSystems process, for example Payment Run or Corporate Allocation Run
  • From Report Manager by selecting a report in the Store.

Selecting the Report Output Type

Regardless of how the report is run, you can choose the type of output you require. You can view, print or store the report. You can also choose any combination of view, print or store the report.

If you view a report it is displayed online immediately and you can then optionally choose to print it. See Viewing Reports Online.

If you print a report it is printed immediately and then deleted from the system.

If you store a report you can view or print it at any time using Report Manager. See Retrieving Stored Reports.

Example Reports

SunSystems provides you with a number of example reports. These can be used as a starting point for designing customized reports for your organization, using Report Designer.

Entering Report Parameters

When running a report, you may be prompted to enter required report parameters, either in the Parameter Editor dialog, the Document Format form, or both, depending on the specific report and the settings in the Document Format Setup record.
