Format Designer - creating data formats

To create new data formats:

  1. Click Format Designer on the toolbar. The Format Designer dialog is displayed.
  2. From the File menu select New or click the New button on the toolbar. The New Format dialog is displayed.
    Note: If you already have a data format open, you are prompted to save the current data format if it has changed since the last save.
    Classification
    Select a classification. The options are:
    • Delimited
    • Single Fixed Width Record
    • Multiple Fixed Width Records
    • Other Flat Files
    • User XML
    • Simple XML
    Name
    Enter a unique name for the new data format.
    Description
    Enter a description for the new data format. This is a non-mandatory field.
  3. Click OK.
