Updates for Cloud Operations

This topic describes Mongoose updates, improvements, and enhancements specifically related to operations in the cloud.

New Windows service for log monitoring in the cloud

We created a new Windows service that monitors the same traffic as the Log Monitor utility (logmonitor.exe). This new service logs all the data it receives to the Cloud 2.0 tool, which uses SumoLogic as its cloud log management tool.

This new service is identified in the Windows Services Management Console as "Infor Framework Log Monitor Service".

To use this service, you must also configure the SumoLogic Collector tool. For more information about this tool, see the SumoLogic website.

Addition of AWS using AS3 to Mongoose file systems

As part of our ongoing move to support of cloud operations, we created a means to handle flat files on Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Cloud Computing Services, using the Amazon Simple Storage Service (AS3) via the Mongoose file manager.

We also provided a means to define access privileges on any file server for user groups.

And finally, we enhanced existing documents (DocumentObjects) and attached documents (ObjectDocuments) to use the file system as another alternative to store documents.

No-bootstrap configuration option

We changed the ION-related services so that they now work with a list of configurations, instead of using a single bootstrap configuration. These services include:

  • Infor Framework Replicator
  • Infor Framework Replication Queue Listener
  • Infor Framework Inbound Bus Service
  • Web Inbound Queue .aspx page

Export and import of application and forms metadata

Forms and Objects database metadata can now be exported and imported by means of XML representations. The specific means depends on the type of metadata being exported/imported:

  • Several of the Form Sync utilities now have an option to convert forms metadata to XML format and then save to a file on the local disk. That file can then be imported to a database in the cloud and converted back to Forms metadata. This includes the new Export and Import utilities in Form Sync.
  • For the export and import of Objects database metadata, we modified the IDO Export Wizard and the IDO Import Wizard to allow for operations in a partial trust situation or the web client. (These forms were previously not usable in partial trust or a web client.)
  • Within Form Sync, command line (CLI) switches can be used to generate XML or SQL script files. These switches provide a filter XML file that corresponds to the Filter tab/utility in Form Sync. There is also a command line switch to import XML files, given a base folder. All objects in the base are sorted into separate object folders and all objects are imported.

New form for application deployment

We created a new Core form (Deployment) for use in deploying Mongoose-based applications/applets from a cloud environment.

See "Application deployment tools" in Updates for Form/Application Developers.

Distributed transactions are optional

To enable the deployment of Mongoose on the cloud with the ability to support failover, the requirement to use distributed transactions (DTC) is made optional. For most framework transactions, DTC is not needed.

Multi-tenant login configuration field is widened

The configuration selection field has been widened in the multi-tenant login screen.

IDO RT centralized session lookup

We made storing and retrieving IDO sessions through session ID more efficient by using the Site Coordinator configuration.

We created a new Core form (Site Coordinator Session Map) that displays sessions counts by configuration. You can also use this form to find and delete orphaned sessions.
