Creating a parent hierarchy

Before you continue with this procedure, ensure that you are logged on in Microsoft Excel and that you have permissions to the DataLink Server.

To create a new parent hierarchy:

  1. Select Utilities > Hierarchy Designer to open the Hierarchy Designer window.
  2. Click the Product browse button and select Query & Analysis.
  3. Enter a name into the Hierarchy field.
  4. Click the Table browse button and select the table you require.
  5. Click the Item browse button and select the item you require.
  6. In the Mapping pane, click Add and select the mapping you require.
    The Hierarchy is displayed in the bottom-left pane.
  7. Select the Hierarchy then select the required range in the bottom-right pane.
  8. Click Save.
