Configuring the Log Service

For the central logging of events of several users, use the Log Service, which is used by computers in a network. Processing of the received event information works like the local logging. You configure the log methods and specify the filters that are used to log events with a method.

In the Log Service there are these methods of event-logging:

  • Text File: Event information is written into one or several text files.
  • Event Viewer: Event information are transferred to the Windows Event Viewer. You may specify the name of the log view.
  • Custom: Event information is forwarded to an external logging module.

To make the Log Service available to other computers in the network, you must specify the TCP port.

To start, stop, pause, or continue the log service, select Log Service underneath the General Settings node. Click the Properties tab and click the Start, Stop, Pause, and Continue button.

Note: You can only configure the log service, if it is not running.
